B Corp Leadership Development (BLD)

B Corp Leadership Development or BLD is an all-day conference organized by employees of Certified B Corporations exclusively for employees of Certified B Corporations.

Join other thought leaders and deepen your impact through networking, collaboration and the sharing of best practices.

BLD is an opportunity for us to share and learn together in order to deepen each of our leadership skills and effectiveness in our work. The goal is for attendees to walk away not only inspired and engaged, but with tangible skills and ideas they can apply in the workplace.

Your BLD Vancouver planning team has planned an awesome day of events, including:

What you'll learn:
If your business replants trees in the forest to offset its carbon emissions and no one hears about it, that’s a missed opportunity. Learn from the creative and marketing experts how to wear your socially conscious badge well and tell the story of how you, your colleagues and businesses are making a difference, in a way that makes people listen.

Hidden Treasures: Uncovering your B Corp return on Investment

What you'll learn:
Now that you're certified, have you fully explored your company's untapped return on investment (ROI) as a B Corp? This panel's guests will discuss how B Corp status has led to increased top line sales, employee engagement, brand trust, PR and supply chain value. As a group, we'll explore different ways to understand, express and build B Corp literacy among employees, customers and other businesses to share best practices and collectively raise our game as leaders. Points that arise will form the basis to discuss ways to grow and gain greater mainstream attention for the B Corp movement.

Building a Connected Team of Advocates

What you'll learn:
Companies that ooze with culture have the best chance for success. However, building a team and culture that's so powerful it extends to your customers and partners is no easy feat. This panel of experts will teach you how to build a connected team, and workshop ways to bring this to your own organizations.

Demonstrating What Matters Most as an Impact-focused Business

What you'll learn:

A distributor of certified organic and natural foods, they’ve routinely made disciplined decision that reflect what matters most - from funding to product choices, to employee incentives, non GMOs and more. Along the way, they’ve built a team that is dedicated to upping their game and using their Bcorp assessment to track their progress. Year over year - their score is increasing. Drawn to Left Coast’s unique approach, Johanna shares her experience as the Director of Marketing - candidly reflecting on what it takes to make the tough decisions and demonstrate what matters most.

Attendees take the lead – we’ll talk about what you want to talk about in BLD’s unconference session. This will be a time for high-energy collaboration in action, fueled by the wisdom of the crowd. How do we make people care? Demonstrating your impact through supply chain and procurement

What you'll learn:
It's not easy being good. This interactive conversation will tap into the powerful stories of three B Corp leaders, Amanda Ladner (SMAK), Mickey McLeod (Salt Spring Coffee), and Brad Mills (Mills Basics), with moderator Meghan Dear (Localize). Together we explore the advantages and disadvantages of our collective B Corp supply chains from multiple perspectives. After a panel discussion to seed our discussions, our expert storytellers will turn the stage over to our attendees to more deeply explore and share the experiences through a facilitated conversation about how we can elevate our understanding and communication of our B Corp commitments to our buyers, employees, and other stakeholders up and down our respective supply chains.
